Spring Brook Chalks about Books

Miss Hoyle LMC Director and Miss Kolman, 5th grade teacher teamed up with the financial support of the PTA to create Spring Brook “Chalks” about Books. 4th and 5th graders are currently reading a book. Miss Hoyle will meet with all 4th and 5th grade classes to teach students the details of chalking, walking and talking about their book in a persuasive way to interest other students in their book. On May 18th students will go outside and become “sidewalk illustrators” creating an original chalk book cover drawing for their book. After designing and coloring their cement book covers, students will venture out to see others’ artwork writing down enticing titles. Each student will leave with a handwritten bookmark list of books to read over the summer. “This is an exciting hands-on way to show our love for books and enthusiasm to read over the summer” says Miss Hoyle, LMC Director.
